EXPERIMENTS IN URBAN REUSE

Seven years of exploration, experimentation and cultural events that regenerated the Ravenna TSN shooting gallery, began with a walk along the docklands with friend and fellow architect Maria Cristina Garavelli. A glimpse of an imposing eagle and curiosity as to what lay behind the locked gates, led to an exciting collaboration with like-minded architects and artists, a research project with a precise methodology and the foundation of Meme Exchange, a non-profit cultural association that promotes sustainable urban regeneration and the revitalisation of disused spaces.

The project “Culture, Architecture, and Regeneration in the Ravenna Docklands – Experiments in Urban Reuse” was awarded an Honourable Mention in the Social Design category at the 25th ADI Compasso d’Oro Awards.
